SALA EXHIBITION 2011

I really enjoyed this exhibition. Betty Pumani and Robert Fielding's work was held in the upstairs exhibition space.

Betty Pumani's artwork was vibrant and aesthetically pleasing. The acrylic paintings were almost childish, yet their large scale makes them effective. Betty comes from the Mimili, located around 500 metres south west of Alice Springs. She is part of an Aboriginal managed community centre - in which acrylic on linin or canvas is primarily used. Her artwork depicts the country of her mother Milatjari's Tjukurrpa.

Walking into the gallery I was immediatly drawn to Rober Fielding's work (who is also from Mimili), this is because it is just my personal taste. I am visually responsive to his morphic, soft compositions and shapes. Overall I enjoyed the exhibition.
